The Mary MacKillop College (MMC) Parents and Friends Committee (P&F) works to enhance a sense of community within the parent/guardian body of the College and works as a fundraising body. The P&F is a volunteer group consisting of parents and friends from all year levels of the school and the College Principal. We also have a P&F representative who attends the College Advisory Committee Meetings.
P&F meet twice a term in the College Boardroom, commencing at 7.30pm. Dates and times of these meetings are publicised in the school newsletter and on the College’s Facebook page.
Everyone is most welcome to attend, meet other parents, and to participate and share in discussions relating to the College. The association provides an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and actions that will benefit the College and the education of its students and continually calls for new members and welcomes the active interest and support of all parents and guardians.
P&F fundraising allows us to provide financial support to the College and allows additional resources and facilities to be purchased or constructed for our student body. In the past, this has included construction of the Chapel and the Pioneer Hall, and more recently the school bus shelter, concrete footpath to the front of the school, audio visual system and stage in Pioneer Hall, Mary MacKillop Canonisation Memorial and portable shade structures for use at sports days.
The school Canteen, Uniform Shop and Year 11 Debutante Ball are all initiatives managed by the P&F. Volunteer helpers are required for Canteen and Uniform shop, BBQ’s and fundraising activities throughout the year. We encourage parents and guardians to contact the P&F, through the College Office. If you are prepared to contribute a small amount of time to any of our activities, please leave your name and phone number with the office staff, and they will gladly pass your details on to a Committee member.
If you have any great ideas for raising funds, would like to help out with raffles, or donations for raffles, please contact the office and they will relay your details or come along to a meeting.
Please “Like” the College Facebook page as our calls for help are generally listed here.
All School Volunteers are required to undergo a Working with Children Check. This can be completed by logging onto the website and completing your details.
Canteen requires helpers from 12.45 to 1.45 each day. It is not a difficult job, and if you could spare a little time, even if it’s only once a term, we would love to hear from you.
